Apollo

Apollo Tyres is one of the premium tyre brands in India today. It was started back in 1972 and has come a long way since then. It is the only tyre manufacturing company in India which can truly be referred to as Multinational, due to its presence in various countries of the world. With availability in more than 100 countries, the company has made its mark in Europe, Asia and Africa. It has a total of 9 manufacturing facilities across the world. Brands of this company are Regal, Vredestein, Maloya, Kaizen, Apollo and Dunlop, which is present across 32 African nations. Now the Dunlop brand has been given away to Sumitomo Rubber of Africa.

Products of Apollo are available in various segments of vehicles, namely passenger cars, off highway vehicles, commercial vehicles and bicycles. It has the unique distinction of launching Asia’s largest tyre, the 57 inch off highway tyre known as XTRAX. In the international market, the company has recently forged an alliance with Manchester United Football club. Apollo gets 2/3rd of its revenue from India and its Corporate Headquarters is located in Gurgaon, India. The company has a state-of-the-art plant in Chennai, which is supposed to be one of the most modern tyre manufacturing units in the world. Bridgestone

Bridgestone Corporation, Japan, was established as far back as 1931 and is the world’s largest tyre and rubber company. Yokohama

After Bridgestone and Sumitomo , Yokohama is the third largest tyre company is Japan . In India Yokohama tyres have some dedicated following among auto enthusiasts who lovingly address this brand as " Yoko". It has been a darling for upsizing segment where currently it is facing a tough challenge from brand Falken which is a Sumitomo offering . The company has just started their plant in Haryana and this should allow company to be more nimble footed and responsive . Yoko's are favourite among SUV crowd where its "Geolander" range is quite popular.   The company has set a benchmark in tyre technology by creating the world’s first tyre which uses orange oil to reduce carbon footprint. In terms of a broad product range, the company currently offers only PCR tyres in India though world wide it also manufactures  tyres for light trucks, commercial trucks, buses and off-road mining vehicles.
